USPA NEWS - A statement posted on Facebook today, July 9th, read: "Bonnie's family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for.

Tyler, whose real name is Gaynor Hopkins, catapulted to international stardom in the 1980s with the release of the hit single 'Total Eclipse Of The Heart', which soared to the top of the charts in the UK and beyond. The song, penned by Jim Steinman also Meat Loaf's producer, was a testament to Tyler's vocal prowess, as Steinman noted in an interview with People: "I never thought it had a prayer as a single, but I wrote it to be a showpiece for her voice, an aria that would unleash a Wagnerian-like onslaught of sound and emotion."
